Gurkha Ships New Revenant Line

Gurkha’s new releases from this summer’s PCA Convention & Trade Show are on their way to retailers, as the company has started shipping the Gurkha Revenant Corojo and Revenant Maduro.

The Revenant line is being made by Tabacalera El Artista in the Dominican Republic, and both blends are notable for their use of a Cameroon binder. While Ram Rodriguez of Tabacalera El Artista had proposed using a Cameroon wrapper during the blending process, Jim Colucci, ceo of Gurkha, had hesitations about using the leaf due to its noted fragility, so Rodriguez came back with a blend that moved the Cameroon leaf to the binder and the Revenant blend was born.

Both blends use the Cameroon binder; the Revenant Corojo uses a Honduran corojo wrapper, with Dominican corojo 98, Nicaraguan and a broadleaf of undisclosed origin in the filler. For the Revenant Maduro, the blend uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, while the filler is made up of a hybrid tobacco called T-13 grown in the Dominican Republic by Rodriguez, along with Nicaraguan tobacco and a broadleaf of undisclosed origin.

The two blends are offered in the same two sizes, a 5 x 50 robusto that has an MSRP of $7.50, and a 6 x 54 toro that has an MSRP of $8.50. Both sizes are offered in boxes of 20 cigars.

Patrick Lagreid

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury and the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for, plus I’m a voice over artist. I previously covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
